The Little Gym's Search For Premises Gains Pace

The Little Gym has already secured planning permission for a new children’s gymnasium in Bishop’s Stortford, which opens next month.

Councillors at East Herts District Council voted unanimously for the change of the town centre site, from office use to leisure. However, despite this recent victory, The Little Gym is urgently seeking further locations in Buckinghamshire, Basingstoke, Guildford, Hampstead, Harrogate, Weybridge, Winchester and Windsor.

A new exercise concept, which originates from the US, The Little Gym offers a unique curriculum-based gymnastics programme, which evolves with each stage of a child’s cognitive and motor skills development. The programme is available for children of all abilities from 4 months to 12 years. Recent awards include the US ‘ICSC 2007 Hot Retailers Award’ and Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2008 ‘No 1 Children’s Fitness Program Franchise’.

The Little Gym currently has over 300 locations in 19 countries, including fourteen UK franchises - with five currently open in Chiswick, Hampton Hill, Wandsworth, Sutton Coldfield and Stoke, and a further nine due to open within the next 12 months. The site at Bishop’s Stortford opens on 21 April and national coverage is expected within five years.

Bev Regan, UK Manager commented, ““At a time when children’s health is at the forefront of government policy and everyone’s minds, there’s a great need for facilities like The Little Gym. Unlike many mobile or adult gymnasiums, The Little Gym locations are bright, colourful purpose-built sites; US and European landlords identify them as a real anchor whilst we, in the UK, are finding it increasingly difficult to locate good sites of around 4,000 square feet. I’d be interested to hear from anyone within the property sector with details of possible potential sites.”
