Driver Hire pull out a couple of Christmas crackers

15 December 2015

Driver Hire, the leading transport and logistics recruitment franchise has two cracking new franchisees, both for offices in Yorkshire.

The franchisor, which already has 103 offices covering the whole of the UK, has added to its network with the sale of a greenfield site in Barnsley. The new owners are Helen and Stuart Ward. They clearly know a good thing when they see one, because they’re moving 190 miles from Bristol to Barnsley to start their new business.

“We looked at a number of options, some of which were much closer to home,” says Stuart. “However, we felt that both Driver Hire and Barnsley had a lot to offer, both in terms of business potential and value for money in the local housing market.

Meanwhile, Driver Hire’s office in York has changed hands. Its new franchisee is Carrie Ann Donohue. Carrie Ann already knows plenty about Driver Hire because she’s worked for the business for the last ten years. Before deciding to take the plunge into self employment, Carrie Ann worked for the previous franchisee, David Poole, who retired after 15 years at the helm. Carrie Ann is joined in her new venture by a business partner, Dianna Bamforth.

“Our overall business success is resulting in high levels of both enquiries and sales,” says Graham Duckworth, Driver Hire’s Franchise Sales Director.” That’s hardly surprising. On current trading, the average full year turnover for a Driver Hire franchisee is over £1M. (UK franchise industry average is £356,000 per unit.) So we have a brilliant product to sell.”
